“Do I smell like cancer?”
Welcome back to another episode of the Jamhole. Let’s have a quick chat about standards, and how just when you think they’ve gone as low as they can go, BOOM! They go even lower!
Boeing lowers quality standards and turns flying into a trust exercise nobody consented to. Olympia lowers the standard of housing until living in your vehicle with a permit becomes civic innovation. The FBI lowers hiring standards because institutions need bodies, and apparently some bodies come with extremely weird search histories.
Social media lowers the standard for pranks until “creepy Cat in the Hat outside a school” becomes a safety concern. Retail behavior lowers until Ross needs semen incident protocols. Food safety lowers until lettuce starts acting like biological warfare.
Even celebrity culture is lowering the bar in a stranger way. Nostalgia gets recycled because new culture has to compete with the ghosts of MTV, Playboy, and the era when cable TV could still convince teenagers the future might be sexy instead of subscription-based and covered in ring lights.
The pattern is simple. When a system can’t maintain the old standard, it rebrands the lower standard as flexibility. Welcome to life!
Remember, collapse rarely announces itself. It shows up as a policy adjustment, a permit application, a revised hiring threshold, a safety memo, a temporary exception, or a phrase like “cost of doing business.”
Then one day you’re living in a car with a permit, eating parasite lettuce, applying to the FBI after two hookers and a horse incident, while Boeing explains that the door falling off was within tolerance.
Rant End. Let’s get into the show notes.

What a terrible couple of weeks for celebrity deaths. RIP to Hayden, Dolly, Tim, and Peter, among others. You see what happens when you don’t save the cheerleader?
Are you familiar with the Eugene Slug Queen?
Have y’all seen the latest Boeing documentary? It’s called Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing. All I can say is wow. Just wow. It certainly makes me glad I’m too poor to fly anymore.
We started watching this show called Nation’s Dumbest… Carmen Electra happened to be on it.
Speaking of Carmen, here’s what she’s been up to. TIL we’re putting 54 year olds in Playboy. I also learned that Playboy is still a thing. What a crazy time to be alive.

Olympia Washington showing up this week with a little more freedom in the form of a pilot program allowing people to live in RVs and vehicles for up to six months with a permit. Homeowners and churches can host vehicles, which means even homelessness now comes with paperwork, zoning rules, and potentially a nightly fee. Progress, apparently.

Florida showing up this week with a semen spreader at a Ross Dress for Less. When was the last time you went to a Ross?
Michigan enters the ring to let us know about the next dumbest trend you probably don’t care about. It’s called the Cat in the Hat trend.
The FBI has lowered some hiring standards, including no longer automatically disqualifying applicants for certain past conduct involving hiring sex workers, stealing from an employer, or engaging in bestiality. So that’s something…
News Flash, this just in. Taylor Farms lettuce linked to cyclospora has reportedly sickened people across multiple states.
We’ve got a Telegram channel for the Jamhole! Come hang out and say hi. This is where the live shows are happening when they happen.
